🛋️ Sport Docuseries ✒️ #2

Today’s recommendations are sensitive and close to me, in every possible way.

Andrés Iniesta: The Unexpected Hero

🍿 “Andrés Iniesta: The Unexpected Hero” 🎥 directed by Oriol Bosch of ⏳1 hour and 26 minutes and was released globally on 🗓️ April 23, 2020.

Plot ✍🏼: It is a great real storie movie that digs into the story of Nike’s partnership with Michael Jordan to create his iconic AIR brand. This series effectively transports viewers back to that pivotal moment in history and focuses on the Nike agent who had unwavering belief in Jordan’s potential.

👎🏼 While the series is undeniably captivating, one minor flaw is the lack of footage showing Jordan’s face and his absence of dialogue, which slightly detracts from the authenticity of the narrative.

👍🏼 The movie features a star-studded cast, including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, and Marlon Wayans. The film is a classic story of belief against all odds and how betting it all on one idea is the best strategy.

Opinion 💭: A documentary I felt deeply aligned with my situation at the time of watching. Iniesta to a “culer” has always felt like a magician in the field and a private, down-to-earth person outside. In this documentary, we can discover the simple Iniesta, born and raised in a small village where he played football all the time.

🤯 Because of football fever around the world, he left home early, still being a child. That meant separing from his protective and preocupied father, who seems like a good person who just loves their children too much.

😖 That seems to me to be where the problem begins. Iniesta is an introverted person who left his comfort zone and was not able to express his sadness at that time. Afterwards, he was diagnosed with depression, even though he was an important piece of the most successful team in history.

🤕 That remind me, human body and mind is not rational sometimes, every person come from different backgrounds, therefore reality perspectives can be diferent eventhouhg experiences are similar. This documentary shows how acknowladging that you might need help regardless of it bieng rational or not, it can be the start to change for good.

Bojan, Más Allà De La Sonrisa

🍿 “Chasing the sun” was 🎥 directed by James Cook of ⏳ 5 episodes about 45 minutes each and was released globally on 🗓️ October 4, 2020. Streaming on Amazon Prime.

Plot ✍🏼: The film explores the challenges faced by Bojan, a precocious and sensitive talent, as he navigated the complexities of professional football. It sheds light on the mental consequences of retiring after spending half of his life as a professional player, offering a poignant look at the personal struggles and triumphs of Bojan Krkic.

Opinion 💭: Bojan’s documentary is a worthwhile watch. In front of us is a prime illustration of why not everyone is cut out for celebrity without support. Professional athletes experience loneliness at times, like me, I’m leaving far from home, your daily routine is full of people you don’t understand, so you are not part of the converrsations and you have no friends or relative close by.

On game days, their work will be evaluated in front of the public, and it gets even harder when they start competing at the age of sixteen. He was just enjoying himself while playing football 🤦‍♂️.

I think the documentary has a unique section that explains what happened to him. 🥹 He was about to play for the national team, becoming the youngest player to participate in an official match, but he was unable to exit the changing room since the circumstance was too much for him to bear.

Are you aware of what was disclosed to the media?

Yes, that he had a stomachache 🤬. You can only imagine how little support he felt.
